MEA @ ECA 2022

The MEA was pleased to sponsor the following panel at the 2022 Eastern Communication Association Convention, held April 7–9 in Philadelphia, PA.

Calling Out “Fake News:” (Re)calling Histories of Misinformation, Disinformation, and Mistrust

This panel offers multidimensional analyses of the processes, proliferation, and impacts of misinformation, disinformation, and fake news. News as media ecologies both background and foreground the sharing of information — the telling and retelling of the news — and bear historical and environmental impacts. In calling attention to the processes of how fake news is engaged in and as our media interactions, this panel calls for rhetorical reflection upon, (re)calling histories of, and uncovering the fake in “fake news.”
